Windows 7 to Launch October 22 2009
Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at 1:37PM Many customers have been reluctant to upgrade to Windows Vista for various reasons; Fear of incompatibility, old hardware, or a set of other reasons. It's true that Vista was a hard sell from a fairly solid Windows XP, personally I never had issues with Vista, but I had purchased a new computer to run it (which makes Vista perfectly fine). Well Windows XP is around 8 years old now, and while XP isn't broke, it is starting to show it's age.
On October 22nd 2009, Windows 7 will be released, which if you have tried the Beta (Feburary 2009) or the Release Candidate (May 2009) you probably have had a chance to enjoy the new features and new slimmer footprint on systems. But if you are not as tech savy (which this site is focused to) you might not know much about Windows 7. Soon there will be an article regarding this, and I hope to get that up soon. But if you have a chance, start to read up a bit on Windows 7, it really is a great update compared to Vista.
Starting soon, companies will start to offer a "Upgrade Program", where if you buy a new computer, you will get a coupon to allow for a free update to Windows 7. My suggestion at this point is, if you can wait till October or better yet Novemeber, you won't have to worry about upgrades, plus hardware will be cheaper and you will get more bang for your buck.
A great place to keep up on Windows 7 changes is Paul Thoutt's Win Super Site, Paul is also the author of a great series of books Windows Secrets. More specificly here is a great FAQ of upcomming Windows 7 from Paul's site.
